چکیده

Describing service quality from the end-users' point of view is fulfilled by using Quality of Experience (QoE) metrics. In a networking environment QoE metrics are very close to Quality of Service (QoS), but – because of the subjective nature of QoE – they could not be derived directly from QoS. Collection and analysis of QoS and SLS (Service Level Specification) properties of networking services are daily tasks of the operators. User satisfaction, however, cannot be mapped directly to these measures related to a network path or aggregated access traffic. Our ultimate aim is to find methods and metrics that correlate properly with QoE, and could be measured passively on aggregated network links. In this paper we present our experimental results on correlating the severity of network overload and the experienced service quality by using our advanced metrics on bottleneck detection. Our measurements were carried out in a real network environment, in which we loaded the network with various kinds of service requests and made notes on the perceived quality. We captured packet level traffic, and then derived measures based on packet interarrival times, packet size information and packet loss information. Our results show that the proposed bottleneck-detection metrics correlate much more to QoE than any common QoS metrics, thus could be used successfully as indicators of user satisfaction. BME – TMIT (2) APNOMS 2006 Introduction Quality of Service (QoS) Objective – Derived at measured interfaces – Typically: • Throughput • Loss • Delay • Jitter, etc. Quality of Experience (QoE) Subjective – Reflecting end-user experience – Related to • service unavailability, • response time, • audio/video quality, etc. Our aim: -Estimate QoE with passive, single-point measurements Find appropriate measures Among QoS metrics Among Bottleneck metrics

The Correlation of Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics with Human Judgement on Persian Language

Machine Translation Evaluation Metrics (MTEMs) are the central core of Machine Translation (MT) engines as they are developed based on frequent evaluation. Although MTEMs are widespread today, their validity and quality for many languages is still under question. The aim of this research study was to examine the validity and assess the quality of MTEMs from Lexical Similarity set on machine tra...

Water Quality Restoration Using Landscape Metrics Analysis: A Case Study in the Golestan Province of Iran

Abstract The results of an integrated study aimed at restoring water quality in a large watershed including seven catchments in north east Iran are presented in this paper. This case study demonstrates how landscape metrics reflect direct or surrogate causes of the land use practices that are the determinants of water quality parameters. Water quality factors included EC, pH, Cl-1, HCO3-1, SO4-...

Introduction: In the current study, we compared h5-index provided by Google Scholar (GS), impact factor (IF) provided by web of sciences (WOS), and SCImago journal rank indicator (SJR) provided by SCOPUS for quality assessment of nuclear medicine journals. Methods: 2013 h5-index, 2012 IF, and 2011 SJR of nuclear medicine journals were extracted from their publishers namely GS, WOS, and SCOPUS....

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Daylight Performance Metrics in Predicting Visual Comfort Case Study: Educational Architecture Design Studios in Tehran

It is essential to ensure that adequate daylight penetrates in, especially, educational environments. In spite of positive significant impacts of daylight on the emotions, concentration, and learning of students, an exceeded amount of light will lead to glare and visual dissatisfaction. Over the last few years, with the help of simulation tools and lighting indices, it is possible to predict li...

Improving for Drum_Buffer_Rope material flow management with attention to second bottlenecks and free goods in a job shop environment

Drum–Buffer–Rope is a theory of constraints production planning methodology that operates by developing a schedule for the system’s first bottleneck. The first bottleneck is the bottleneck with the highest utilization. In the theory of constraints, any job that is not processed at the first bottleneck is referred to as a free good. Free goods do not use capacity at the first bottleneck, so very...
